With a child’s simple reasoning, 11-year old Grace Meadows, measures her world caught in the Civil War. This story shares the wisdom of innocence as the feisty young narrator and her family struggle to survive from 1865-1866 in Bransford, TN. This deeply moving story covers the tragedy and issues of slavery, self-determination, the privileges of class, and the sacrifices made to escape tension, confusion and contradictions of the war that surround her.

Meet the director

Ang WestmoreAng is a first time director with Theatre in the Park.  She assistant directed last year’s beautiful production of The Diary of Anne Frank.  Ang has worked on several shows since she was in middle school, the most recent being UIS’s 2014 production of Paula Vogel’s How I Learned to Drive. She is an aspiring director and is grateful for this opportunity.
