A human comedy about a family that must confront its past as it prepares for its future.

“Oh, I think it is a shame for brothers & sisters to need lawyers.”

“It may be a shame, but you’d better get one.”

Three generations of a family gather at the old home in Harrison, Texas. The matriarch Stella, her three children and their colorful families will bring to mind how anything can happen over a family dinner. When the subject comes up about dividing the family estate, the fireworks begin in the funniest play Horton Foote has written. Foote, who died at age 92 in 2009, won Academy Awards for his screenplays of To Kill a Mockingbird and Tender Mercies. He also wrote the play The Trip to Bountiful.
